SQ has still not decided whether to return its oldest A380s to the lessor (DORIC), or to keep them for a few more years. DORIC is making reservations in case they are returned and have to be refurbished. www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-05-11/surplus-singapore-air-a380s-set-for-paint-shop-to-lure-new-usersI see nothing new there. A protracted price negociation seems to be going on, with SQ keeping its cards close to its chest. In any case, SQ must be seriously considering to use its five new frames to expand its A380 fleet if the new lease price is right, else why not say so immediately ?

It would be a shock if SIA would stop to operate the A380. I would have expected they order new ones because their first ones start to be a little outdated inside. I like to fly onboard but for example the lavs just start to be worn. There has been so much IFE progress in the last years.
Will SIA stop their "big" daily A380 Changi-Frankfurt-JFK flight after their A359 does it nonstop?

Lease on SKA won't be renewed. Decisions for SKB-SKE will be made later What strikes me is SQ's caution and case-by-case approach. They don't say anything about the next, probably better-performing, A380s coming off lease, thus probably allowing for a protracted lease extension negociation with the owner. All this means that SQ still is not ruling out some extension of its A380 fleet when it receives the 5 frames it has on order (starting next year). According to the WSJ, "the Singapore flag carrier has 19 of the double-deck jets in its fleet and the first five were taken on a 10-year lease deal with Airbus". Is Airbus the owner of the plane(s) SQ is going to return ?

Owner of msn 3 is Dr. Peters. Another 3 a380 coming of lease from SIA: msn 5, 8 and 10 are owned by Dr. Peters too. Only msn 6 owner is Doric who is manager for all 5 aircrafts.

The Doric website still mentions SKA to SKE as part of their 'investment', Dr Peters Group mentions 4 without giving registrations.

I find the article disappointing since it offers only excessive and already re-hashed comments. SQ operates 19 whalejets, some of them built to the lower early standard, and has five new ones on order. Passager demand does not warrant increasing the fleet size by five units, so SQ elected instead to replace its worst performing frame by a new one, and the carrier may well do the same with its other old low-performing frames. Apart from the present low level of demand, which is a concern to all manufacturers, how is that specifically bad news to Airbus or the A380 ? The poor performance of early-built frames is nothing new, and their retirement is hardly a meaningful event. The upcoming emergence of a market for used A380, a long-expected development, is seen by the author as new dangerous competition and as a threat to the aircraft type, while analysts previously feared a lack of interest for used frames ...

Positive news from SIA re there remaining A380s, it should mean that MSN 243 SQ20 will get loaded in sequence ?
