Don't forget that those early A380's have non standard wiring!

Read the above release from Dr Peters group. They say they were in talks with a few airlines (among which indeed Iran Air, but also HiFly and BA), but the best proposal was from a part-out specialist.
As regards EK, I'm sure the non-standard wiring, implying a specific maintenance schedule, was a no-go. Only a small operator could take such an aircraft, as was the case with the 'terrible teen' 787s.
