I think Emirates might not need it before 01/06/14 for the increase services to CDG... Fabien

I do not believe it is intended for CDG - it is ULR configuration i.e. it is intended to go to America . The EK has now so many routes it is hard to predict. With problems on the airport they might need more of the big planes earlier.

If anything, temporary airport constraints are an incentive to defer deliveries, since part of the existing fleet will be idle. Of course, A380s will not be the type left on the ground, but any aircraft addition would force EK to leave more airplanes idle.

Having an A380 in the air gives more revenue than having a B777 in the air. So I assume while the runway is refurbished Emirates wants to fly the maximum number of A380 and rather idle something else.

This is what I said (and you quoted) but on the other hand, it is of debatable value to take immediate delivery of an A380 when this forces you to leave an additional 777 on the ground. Postponing the A380 delivery and having one less 777 on the ground is in my opinion a much better trade-off.

Indeed I think it is impossible to predict where planes will fly to and MSN150 will most likely not fly to Paris, it was just that with the addition of MSN150, any A380 frame will help with the increase to CDG, especially that Emirates can and does send sometimes ULR versions on LR routes... one will be withdrawn from somewhere, one will be added etc,... The CDG increase is the next (announced-)time where EK will need a further A380,... Fabien

IMO is it of debatable value to postpone a A380 you buy anyway to keep a B777 in the air.
