So should we stick to Airbus+EK statements and assume that MSN108 is already repaired?... Fabien

I'm wondering about these 5 weeks for MSN026, that's about (almost) half the time of what Airbus' teams are doing, in both TLS and XFW... Fabien

So should we stick to Airbus+EK statements and assume that MSN108 is already repaired?... Fabien Sorry, I was referring to your last paragraph. I'm not sure about MSN108. Indeed I remember from the old forum that MSN108 spent quite some time in a hangar and was overtaken by MSN107. However, at that time, Airbus was still developing the permanent fix. Also, the EASA did not approve the paperwork until March/April 2013 while MSN108 was delivered in December 2012. Tim Clark's quote for "34 A380s to be repaired" dates from March 2013, so I guess there must have been a last minute slip in the schedule. Likely because the last deliveries (113/116/119/123) were behind schedule.

I was thinking indeed that while developing the permanent fix, Airbus may have liked to try it on a frame, maybe MSN108 then, that was overtaken by 8 frames that were transferred to XFW before MSN108, after MSN108's FF at TLS. With MSN108 with the (non-yet-certified-)permanent fix applied, Airbus could have just been waiting for the permanent fix to be certified, even after MSN108's delivery, maybe also to see how the fix was going on after some revenue services. Though, we might never be able to be sure of that... The second scenario that we refer to (pushed deliveries) is highly likely too... I think we would have an answer on that, once all EK frames are repaired, if we see that MSN108 will not go out of service, if might have been the one missing in our counts......,,, Fabien

I'd expect Airbus to develop and test the fix inside a lab, "trying" on a production frame sounds strange IMO. They also have 2 testbeds for experiments.
Whatever they did with MSN108, maybe we will learn it one day.
I agree, let's wait and see before judging.
It may take a while before we will know it however, frames with the temporary wing fix (like all those AF frames we've seen in TLS) can fly for another 2 years without the need of repairs.

MSN138 was having the wing fix in outfitting hangar H242 at Hamburg XFW on the 16th August 2013 Seeing all the frames taking much longer for OF (XFW, MSN095 MSN133 MSN132 MSN124 etc) or after assembly (TLS, MSN115 MSN127) or thereafter at TLS (MSN121, MSN128), I believe wing fix is not carried during these operations out, neither assembly nor OF. Indeed, we'll have an answer seeing in how many weeks MSN138 will roll out. UK380 by any chance, could you have asked the person conducting the tour about this, and/or other fellow aviation enthusiats during the tour?... Fabien

Fabien no but we spoke about what was required for the wing fix, I don't see a problem in undertaking the fix during the fit out, the aircraft is in one place for sufficient time to allow the fix to be made and the fit out does not affect the wings. from where we were I was unable to see the wings of the aircraft in H241 or H244 so they could well also be having the wing fix as well. I would suspect the limiting factor is the amount of engineering staff available to make the fix in various places throughout the world. It seems to be a complicated fix and would, I expect, require some fairly skilled staff.
