I think it's easier to fly back home instead of searching for an air port which is A380 ready

There are plenty over there, FRA MUC LHR CDG, though Airbus would have to pay fees for a few hours?... Fabien

Sure - so they have other reasons not to go there. 1. they always have more than enough fuel and it takes less than 2 hours to go back 2. they do not want to show the flagship in primer greens 3. if the flight took too long they have other test-crews standing by ...

My question is: was it so necessary to depart TODAY from TLS for the FIRST flight? I mean, didn't they know about weather conditions in XFW? Boh, to me it sounds weird... I'm surely missing something...

We were waiting for the landing approach of LH A380 #12 to Hamburg Finkenwerder but it didn't come. So I filmed the climbing after the low approach at Hamburg Airport. Enjoy watching. :-)

My question is: was it so necessary to depart TODAY from TLS for the FIRST flight? Schedule said so. Tell us the exact weather conditions of today at XFW noon. You have the full power of the internet. Can you? No. Weather is changing fast and the Airbusses are flown by a set of computers. They even can land without a pilot (ILS etc needed). But after coming to the stop (the only thing a pilot does in this situation is to tell the computer the pressure of the breaks) a pilot has to taxi. GPS is not enough. And if there is a fat fog, so that nothing goes - an airport has to be closed.

A380 MSN149 AIB1SX by FabienA380, on Flickr A380 MSN149 AIB1SX by FabienA380, on Flickr I think if Airbus wanted to ferry MSN149 yesterday it means that a bay was available, either MSN146-LH11 is finished with outfitting and ready for painting and MSN149 could have take its spot, though MSN146's spent only 7 weeks since arrival yet, either plan is to paint MSN149 first (2 weeks or so?) and then exchange bays (OF/Paint) with MSN146, so I guess MSN149 should ferry as soon as the conditions would allow it, maybe (and hopefully) tomorrow?...
