I’ve heard the same thing this morning.
Apparently the frame failed (broken or damaged) during certification test, some sort of structural damage.

Ostrower is adding a reference to a 5 month old article in that Twitty Tweety Thing. Apparently THIS is what he meant to point to. I’ve heard the same thing this morning. Apparently the frame failed (broken or damaged) during certification test, some sort of structural damage. There was never an accident or incident with an MRJ/SpaceJet according to ASN.

peter If you Google “MRJ accident”, you will see incident even back in 2017. Not sure how you claim it never had incident.

So all it was was a P&W engine failure then ?

Sad to see it being put on hold. But it was going nowhere and took too long to be on the market. The time between first flight and first delivery is the most expensive and most dangerous for any program. I hope Mitsubishi will use what they learned and developed in the future. It looked very nice and they certainly did a lot right as well.
Maybe they can somehow form some sort of joint venture with Embraer for future aircraft?

So all it was was a P&W engine failure then ? Yeah, and a little dent in the nose cone caused by a tow-truck. Anyway, a far cry from "a failed frame" or "structural damage".

The only other thing I remember was that they found a problem with the layout / design of the avionics bay and that they had to re-design / re do it, causing a big delay.

23 Oct 2020
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has denied reports that it will freeze development of the Mitsubishi Aircraft SpaceJet, but is looking at “possibilities” for the regional jet programme. “MHI is continuing a detailed review of the schedule of the SpaceJet program, in view of the impact of COVID-19, and is ..

The only other thing I remember was that they found a problem with the layout / design of the avionics bay and that they had to re-design / re do it, causing a big delay. Looked up some facts: fuselage re-designed in 2009, carbon wingbox replaced by aluminium in 2009, wing design in 2015, landing gear in 2015, the avionics bay you mentioned was in 2017.
