MSN130 is now painted on the FL (before outfitting), appearing on one of the pictures at today's thread at Aviation Friends Hamburg Forum. Fabien

Why would they have painted it already? I could understand if another Korean frame was the previous frame and the paint colour and templates would already be in place. Airbus could have one paint shop devoted to Emirates frames and one for other frames to improve efficiency.

Airbus seems to be introducing alternative sequences of work in order to reduce overall lead times. Painting is performed at different stages : most frames are still painted after outfitting, but sometimes painting is performed before outfitting, and at least one frame had CFF before being painted.

It's all about availability of the hangars. When you have an idle paint hangar and idle A380 on the flightline, why not painting it.
The downside is, there's a (small) risk of making scratches on the paint work during outfitting.

I remember that frames can go to the paint shop twice, at the begining like MSN130 for example, and also before roll out for some little work.. Fabien
