Interesting that they mention part of the reason to include a sixth XL was to mitigate any shortfall in capacity if one is, to put it mildly, 'grounded'.
I always wondered how Airbus would manage production if for some reason, a Beluga becomes non-operational.

We see the XL #2 now has his number 2 painted on. But why did they paint the numeral 2 over the lettres XL ? It look messy, and not as easy to read as it should. We hope they realise it, and repaint it in a more artistic and practical way. After all, we want to see the XL and the 2 as clearly as possible. Do you agree? I do agree with you 380_Brisbane indeed, but not sure if Airbus is reading our threads, sadly..

I always wondered how Airbus would manage production if for some reason, a Beluga becomes non-operational. All types of aircraft are unavailable per schedule for maintenance, and occasionally for all sort of reasons. Airbus operation must have enough flexibility to allow for one unavailable Beluga, but two of them unavailable more than a week or two would probably wreak havoc. Having a brand new fleet increases reliability - nevertheless the number of Belugas must grow like aircraft production.

Just wondering:
Now that the X-Whale #2 is starting "exercising" before going to work, does anyone know when its productive life will begin?
And if someone could keep us informed about the actual progress of baby #3 (progress report, photo,...)
By any chance, has the MSN be chosen for the #4 ?
Please feel free to share your knowledge.

Been told by Airbus tour guide today, the certification will be complete by the end of this year.
I don’t normally follow Beluga XL progress, not sure whether this is what everyone on this forum is expecting. Just for your information.
