Has anyone watched this episode of XL Airways Germany Flight 888T crash? I can't help but notice the very strong similarities to AF447 even though it happened a year earlier than the latter. In a nutshell: Vital sensors (angle of attack here) freeze up, sends garbage inputs to the flight computer and throws the flight envelope protection system out of the loop. Crew ends up with a situation they couldn't comprehend, with the aircraft control reverting to manual mode; Stunned crew completely loses control, plane goes into unrecoverable stall and crashes into sea. Another instance of crew being overly dependent on automation and it's a sign of overconfidence when the crew push the aircraft to its limits NOT expecting a failure.
