MSN11 is due to leave the paint shop this evening and will go to S20 afterwards for cabin furnishing and engine fit.

It takes extra time if they have to remove the tail fin for re-balancing.

Yes indeed. For some reason QR tail fins arrive unpainted in FAL and therefore need to be re-balanced after paint.

I wonder how much extra weight is added, 5-10kg maybe?

I wonder how much extra weight is added, 5-10kg maybe? The issue is not the additional weight, it is the need for a perfectly balanced tail fin (think of the rudder).

Does this mean during the life of the aircraft, every time it's re painted (Eg New airline livery or major Maint) that the tail will have to come off to be re balanced ? Major extra cost !
