I wonder how much extra weight is added, 5-10kg maybe? For the whole frame I remeber to have heard something like 600kg.

MSN11 is due to leave the paint shop this evening and will go to S20 afterwards for cabin furnishing and engine fit. MSN11 just left the paint hangar, a bit earlier than expected.

Yes indeed. For some reason QR tail fins arrive unpainted in FAL and therefore need to be re-balanced after paint. Q. Does this mean during the life of the aircraft, every time it's re painted (Eg New airline livery or major Maint) that the tail will have to come off to be re balanced ? Major extra cost ! Yes, but an unblanced tail is definately major extra costs

But we observe that on A320 + B738 many that are going from Canada-USA to EU fro winter/summer charter operations - they just pus stickers onto the tail and the whole procedure takes less than a day i.e. nothing spectacular goes on..... ?

AFAIK, it is the rudder that is critical, not the tail itself

AFAIK, it is the rudder that is critical, not the tail itself I think you're on the money! It would explain why the rudder is usually left untouched when the aircraft decals are removed for storage: 4.bp.blogspot.com/-kE_5llkPNDA/UxlbNvQBFmI/AAAAAAAAA1w/Y_qeqw1ItX4/s1600/exqanttjs.jpg

According to a post on the A350 threads over at a.net, the first flight is scheduled for the 11th of August!
