Republic might change the order to something smaller they will need and might finish costing them nothing - still bad news for CS

But still, I think it will cost Republic a lot of money if they cancel the order now. Perhaps if they had done that earlier, it would have been cheaper  That all depends on the contract ... I think that to-day a major customer could order CSeries with no cancellation penalty. Republic actually seems to consider buying the planes and selling/leasing them out, perhaps because they hope their market value will increase once their performance is proven. I don't know if Republic is entitled to do that or not, as I don't know BBD contracts at all. An Airbus purchase contract would include a no-resale clause in regard of the discount granted by Airbus - a breach of that committment might cancel the discount ! |

BBD has received an order from an undisclosed customer for 16 CRJ-900 plus 8 options

This could be the first large order from a major customer BBD had been pushing for without success so far (except for Swiss). It's a relief for the programme !
The customer will probably be disclosed in Farnborough
EDIT : I got carried away ! I misread and somehow came to believe that the order was for the CSeries ! If my comments above are not entirely absurd (except for the reference to Swiss), it is by sheer luck !
