Okay thanks, that makes sense now, but what a weird place to put them. It's not a weird place to put them at all. The air conditioning packs are located right in front of the landing gear, so the openings are probably right beside the heat exchangers.

They look like speed brakes, must cause extra drag and turbulence, but it obviously works for them.
