Am I right in saying that
-there are (at least?) 2 paint shops for A350s? -painting takes 3 full weeks?.... (if A350-MSN010 entered it on 23rd Feb)

Correct.
- C33 paint hangar at the A330/A350 site - L07 paint hangar at the A380 site

Does someone know the reason why painting takes so long ? It takes considerably shorter for A380 much bigger. A330 (close in size - OK smaller but not by a lot) takes less than a week.

Could it be the complexity of some of the designs/schemes being put onto the aircraft? (Only taking a wild stab in the dark at this as I'm no expert regarding the painting etc.)

The picture confirms that the aircraft is/will be registered as A7-ALD. Interestingly, there is no name painted under the cockpit windows.

Perhaps there's some bit of a learning curve for the new aircraft with new dimensions? I also recall something about a new paint system for the A350. Not sure if this is specific for the A350 however.

Maybe there is also a ramp up for paint team to familiarize with this new aircraft.

XWB - AFAIK MSN10 is the second A350 after MSN5 that has been painted in L07. www.flickr.com/photos/jujug/13955904400 How long did MSN5 take? Could it be that L07 is equipt differently? (I'm doubting myself on that comment haha!) or maybe they are just familiarisng the painters on the new aircraft?

From the MSN5 thread, the aircraft took around 10 days to paint although keep in mind that the tail was already painted and the livery is relatively simple.
