I'm not sure if I like it yet but it is interesting that they've eliminated refences to the UAE (the coat of arms and the colours of the flag). Those colours might show up on the fuselage.
A second thought: maybe EY is fooling all of us and this tail is just a one off....

I think I like the new taildesign more than the current one. It was too old fashioned for such a dynamic company. Let's see the fuselage. I hope for more clear avantgarde lines and patterns.
Just wondering: Is this design just what happens when you pixel the current tail in very low res?

Here's my impressions on what the tail might look like based on the photo posted upthread. Most of it is based directly on the photo however I've had to guess parts of the tail and since I didn't like my first 'guess' I've added a grey part to my second 'guess'. Over the weekend, I'll try and apply it to other aircraft tails like the 777 and the 787. I like it more than the current livery. The tail looks a bit governmental and the gold coat over the entire aircraft comes across as tacky in my eyes. I get the desert theme, but the colors remind me of different kinds of chocolate (milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white, etc.) or chocolate treats (i.e. Reese's peanut butter cups or caramel).

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this is going to be a special livery, maybe to promote their new interior or what have you, but that their new livery will be something else.
It just seems weird to me that an airline like Etihad would go from such a stately, solemn livery to something so extravagant as this.

So that's what it reminds me of! It's got all the colours right there and the sharp folds. Crushed gold-out-silver-in chocolate wrapper with bits of caramel chocolate in it.
