The lander may bounce on the comet - a jump might take two hours - but he can't reach escape velocity. So he'll stay forever. His mass is about 100kg, the gravity pressure is comparable to 1 ml of water on earth. When rosetta comes out of the comets shadow, data can be received from the lander and transmitted. We'll see..

Well, money well spent in my books. Scientific exploration brings in so much technological advances while working with a very measly budget compared to anything else. The anchor deployment failure may be of concern during drilling exercises, though. It's important that the lander does not shift around during the process. I hope they can fix it and secure the lander to the comet.
