A very scenic shot of 1499 at KPAE. From moonm's Flickr photostream.

Well, here is one of the most interesting ads/images that Air China has created for their 747-8Is. From the @airchinajp twitter. Any idea what the top comparison is?? The twitter post also seems to talk about (via translation) how it fits nicely between the 777-300ER and the A380, and that it has been attracting a lot of attention from airlines in many countries lately.

Ok...my guess: - 4 times taller than a giraffe (5m) - 8 times faster than a big cat of sorts, presumably a cheetah (~70mph) As for the first thing, it looks like a shark but at 2x, no species comes that close to 76.4m. The picture looks like a Great White but the largest species is the Whale Shark with maximum reported lengths less than 15m. And even though it looks nothing like what's drawn in the picture, the largest blue whale is only 30m long.

Why don't they use Panda bear units?

Some new marketing for the Air China 747-8's can be found here. It requires translation, but it seems to state that LHR may be one of the first destinations, and that you should (maybe) be able to book in three days?

365 seats on a domestic flight is not many for a 748 ...

The aircraft has an international cabin configuration, I guess it's a training flight.
