Is there any information if parts for this one have been built?
If not it could end up like msn118 NOT BUILT. If yes would it be like msn 018 NOT BUILT (but parts used on another frame).

Given the long lead time of the A380, fuselage parts for MSN185 should have been produced.

But there should not be any customization yet - so they could be easily used - or un-probably SN given to other customer - although it would be first time.

Decent article about the timing of any NEO option for the A380....Sounds like not "if" but "when" for sure. uk.reuters.com/article/2014/10/23/uk-airbus-group-a380-engines-idUKKCN0IC1FF20141023 I think it also hints that MSN185(Skymark's 3rd A380) parts have been built..

Can we now assume that the parts that were built for MSN185 are stored somewhere?...
(thence this thread now here?)

I would expect parts to be with the company that built them, or possibly at some sub-assembly site.

I say in a nice way, that the forum seems to accentuate our ignorance of some matters to do with the A380. I imagine questions like - how long before the companies decide to get rid of the parts? It's a problem to sell airworthy complete shells, let alone bits and pieces - will result in 'not-known ' replies. We get nice pictures of pre-assembled frames from Oliver at times. I wonder if he has any. I've seen pictures on the forum (I believe) of sections pre-assembled and just waiting for convoy allocation Am I showing my ignorance (again) by asking why somebody doesn't ask the individual manufacturers?

Actually you are close to question I asked about a year back - with no reply - the question was - how long before - for instance convoy - the first parts of the sub-assemblies are being purchased ?

I suppose we come back to 'when does a (long lead) item become frame specific'?
I assume the shell is one of the easier bits to make and it's the internals which take the time. Assuming manufacturers don't want empty shells cluttering the place up, it would be the internals which arrive for a frame.
If, for instance, the black box is the longest long-lead item, does it matter what frame it ends up in.
Personally I'd think the fuselage is when a frame becomes 'frame-specific'. I remember the first BA frame becoming newsworthy during a fuselage first-cut ceremony.
Any idea of a rough time from start of fuselage construction to convoy?
