One might wonder if Boeing's stock price has peaked and is looking at a slight downturn for the next few years. So far, it's creative accounting system seems to have provided a rosy picture to shareholders. For the next few years, the reality of the situation might become too difficult to massage into their financial reports. That Boeing was asking customers for more "advance payments" spells of downright desperation to cover their cashflow shortfalls. If I was sure of that, I would immediately short Boeing's stock and make a mint ! However, only insiders know whether or not Boeing is set to break major news.

Does anyone know how many "NEW" wide body aircraft Boeing has in storage / re work 747-8s and 787s ? There must be billions of dollars worth of them. Then there are the Ones delivered that have been creatively financed by Boeing, so no cash on delivery!

Only a few 748s are left in storage. Most 787s are now set to fly away in 2016/2017. A couple of them still do'nt know their future owner, though. The problem is being addressed, but what we don't know is the sales prices and the losses incurred by Boeing on these unfortunate aircraft.

Only a few B747-8s in storage, if we said five that's 1.7 billion dollars worth. And I guess the component suppliers have had to be paid for their parts? The early B787s are / will be sold at a massive loss to get them out of the way.

But do not forget that the real sales price is about 50% of the list price...... And I would not be surprised if the sale price of the troubled teen is 30% ??
That was the discussion before if it was worth the effort - if to scrape it is not cheaper (do not forget the engines they represent steady price).

Well, Boeing has finally woken up to acknowledge that their rules they use to compute the inflated aircraft performance in marketing brochures has been outdated for a long time. www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/boeing-revises-quotobsoletequot-performance-assumptions-415293/Very interesting table of the updated range and seat counts. Notably the new 777-8X range is revised down to 8,700NM from 9,390NM. This is not far off the 8,600NM range of the A350-900LR leeham news theorises it to be. So with regards to whatever SQ is looking at for their ULH non-stop US flights, I think the A350-900LR is a strong candidate as a lighter aircraft that almost matches the range performance of the 777-8X. That it may carry slightly fewer seats shouldn't be that much of a problem since I don't expect SQ's ULH market to be too big. Also the 787-10 is now a 6,430 NM plane compared to the A350-900s ~7,700 NM range.

It's amazing to me that Boeing have been giving these 'official statistics' for so long if it had been known that they were incorrect! Surely a competitive advantage for Airbus - on the assumption that they don't do the same!
