I've tried the 2 scans then and also eventually I found where/how to uninstall IE11 so I am down to IE10 at the moment and it seems it is getting 'a little' better, with IE crashes becoming a little rarer.........
Thanks everyone

Fabien this is not normal. You have some malware or virus in your laptop. You must remove that first and than continue. Actually speaking from experience - how ever weird it sounds - usually the quickest and safest way to solve such problems is to backup all DATA (only data !) and wipe the disk completely clean by some utility and make new clean installation of the whole machine.

So I ran the 2 online scans from quidam, I ran a full heavy scan of the whole computer, firefox wasn't working properly (I eventually succeeded in making it work but it was actually SO slow) then last night I reseted the original factory conditions of the laptop, and guess what? ie is still crashing now!

Use diskwipe or wipedisk and start with complete installation from the beginning ! That is the only way how to get rid of all leftowers there. While you do reset to factory original condition all shit which lives within your dll's + all the shit in the registers is still there - you do not get rid of it so easily. Believe me - to make new clean installation how ever brutal it seems is by far the fastest a and safest way to solve the problem. I am pretty sure you have spent with this until now unsuccessful battle more time than you would have spent with new clean installation from completely empty disk.

Can somebody suggest me a good media player for Windows? I'm a long time WMP user but I'm getting to a point of frustration with the poor sorting and cataloguing capabilities... I'm looking for something that has better options to sort with, define playlists etc...
