Repeat and repeat that article in nikkei, where first information about new order was published, says about 2018 fiscal year not calendar year.

Regardless, even the fiscal year does not begin in 2016.

True is that the original BC configuration was (just to remember) 114 J and 280 Y+i.e. complete nonsense for Tokyo Hawai operation, so the change in the cabin configuration is probably total ! It probably can not be done in less than a year - a lot must be probably made to order..... It will take some time but close to three years ? Again, these birds have never been fitted out because the contract was cancelled by Airbus before any work started in XFW. There is no inside configuration at all, except possibly for some plumbing if done in TLS (I am not sure), which might require some re-work. Apart from that, these frames could be fitted out in about the same time as it would take for any new customer (any new configuration requires some additional time). ANA however may need time to decide on the details of its configuration. This is an entirely different matter.

Philidor - about 2 years back XWB (if I am not mistaken) explained what was done on the parts prior the convoy and in TLS for customization and it was a LOT. If I remember well there were for some customers even structural changes. True there are probably not the seats and galleys and the "rare" toilets ( ), but all the wires connecting parts are there. So there is for sure going to be quite a lot of rework. Also I am sure that those frames are almost 2 years old now - there were improvements and changes introduced - another thing to take care of. Looking at seatguru at ANA and looking at fr24 what ANA flies to Hawai - I would not be surprised if they choose something like EK 2 class or something like the planned TRANSAERO was - i.e. the biggest possible changes. So the bloomberg timing looks more realistic.

So the bloomberg timing looks more realistic. The frames are not that old, changes to the wing and doors were already done. Structural changes to the upper floor were done for some frames to accommodate the heavy first class suits. A high density configuration for ANA should not make any problems. Outfitting should not take longer than a year. The time frame for ANA could be based also on completely different factors like when ANA would like to introduce the new service.

Interesting, ANA is out today saying that there is no order, and nothing has been decided yet. I can fully imagine that this is an order about to be given the position ANA has in the Skymark bailout as ghorn mentioned. I suppose only time will tell.

So really nothing has changed since August .... !! Hope there is an A380 order but we will have to wait. Geoff

So really nothing has changed since August .... !! Hope there is an A380 order but we will have to wait. Not at all ! Please check jkkw's post (a few posts upthread), quoting ANA's release. This is not a denial of the purchase, rather the assertion that the deal has not yet been completely formalised. Obviously, ANA does not want to say anything before their scheduled January 29 event. The question is sure to come up in Airbus January 12th press update, but we should expect an official 'no comment'. Airbus will leave it to ANA to disclose the agreement. EDIT : I advise reading the Airways News jkkw linked to. It provides a remarkable analysis.
