An interesting post on airliners.net from user xwb565 -
"It looks more like they found an issue during the start of the painting process that would need immediate correction otherwise damaging the paint job if they fixed it later. The taping of the logos etc is a usual part of the paint process."

Rumour from China this morning - it’s just a very poor paint job.
I’ve never heard CA has ever rejected a frame, not even that B789 that has such a dramatic production mistake about two/three years ago.

A close up shot, shows the paint has been partially removed ? Looks like a rushed clean up job ?

It looks terrible... utterly terrible, especially on the body near the door. What are those black paint? I don't think CA livery has that deep of black on them.
Does it look like someone tried to draw a special livery, and it got carried away and got completely wrong, then try to cover it up, badly?

The black above the windows is the black of the registration being rubbed out, and below the windows i guess the black is from were they rubbed out the line that say the aircraft type ?

you are indeed correct. it seems it's under one of the rework tents. that must have been a significant damage this late. hey.. could it be one of the lift hit the fuselage???
