Here it is again, my list of A380 technical issues, this time in 2018.
It has been filed with information from my own observations and notifications, those on A380s.net, as well as reports in the media when applicable.
Like previous years this list is not complete, as the Korean and Asiana A380’s are lacking – except one incident. Maybe they fly so reliable, but more likely there issues seem to go unnoticed.
Etihad had a good year without reported tech issues. By contrast, Emirates had a spate of cancelled flights, which is statistically logical with such a big fleet.
Still, an (Emirates) A380 going tech on average once ore twice a week to me is a bit worrying. We have seen issues on aircraft that had just returned from a tech check, which is even more awkward.
Most frustratingly it’s almost impossible to find details about the exact technical problem, so identifying a pattern here is impossible. There have been some Rolls-Royce Trent 900 issues, but if they are blade-related is not known.
