We should re-activate the thread, now 004 is the first with new wingtips.

We should re-activate the thread, now 004 is the first with new wingtips. I'd say only move it out of the retired aircraft thread if we see more activity on the aircraft. With MSN1 having finished TrentXWB testing, I believe they'd do any flight test for the new winglet/any other changes on MSN1. As to why they put the winglets on MSN4 first rather than MSN1, I'm guessing that since MSN1 is doing the flying display at the airshow, Airbus wanted to keep the old winglets since they don't have any actual inflight data on the aerodynamic characteristics of the new winglets. Alternately the winglets on MSN4 might just be a mockup and not produced to airworthy standards. Anyway, MSN4 was conveniently already at LeBourget to allow Airbus to announce and show the new winglets on the aircraft at the airshow without pics being leaked by the spotters at Toulouse (not that they were able to keep it under wraps at Paris!). My opinion is that MSN4 will not be reactivated and I would not be surprised if the old winglets were put back onto the aircraft when it goes on display at the museum there.

I agree 100 percent with jkkw. Though MSN 4 has been donated to the Museum months ago, the decision may become effective only after the air show, or there may be an agreement allowing Airbus to use the aircraft for static display at the air show. This is a one-off, MSN 4 has been retired.

Will it keep the Winglets and remain a ground demonstrator for the plus or is it going to be reconfigured to handover state?

The APU of 004 has been removed and will be used as a spate parts, the museum replies to my question:

First the wingtips, then the APU and now engine 2. 004 is no longer in a flyable condition. Or do they need the engine for Air France HPJE?
