'In a few days' is sooner than expected. We were recently told it would be next month, not that it would be early February.

That tweet is probably referring to the visit of one of Airbus's A35K to Doha as it embarks on its world tour rather than the delivery of QR's first aircraft.

Yet, the tweeted picture shows two A350s, one of them sporting the A7-ANA registration (= MSN 88 - QR's first A35K). Could we see a double delivery ?

That’s a disappointing number as there are already 6 assembled and in production. There are another 4 in the production list that should have been completed this year. So come on QR take all 10 !! Geoff

Geoff But Geoff - it is QR (all the predictions usually appear to have been too optimistic in real life)

Baker seems to speak of: "the airline expected to receive four of the twin-engined jets this year. contractually and I am confident that Airbus will deliver them to us,"
That is rather convoluted. The financial year at Qatar finishes in March?

Geoff, the problem with QR is lack of demand.
Since last year, I am getting "special offer" email from QR every week, it's like dfs sofa (it's a UK thing, they offer half price sofa almost year round), you have to try very hard not to book a QR ticket within special promotion period! This really shows how much lack of business they are facing.
The QSuite is fantastic, but they are not roll out yet. EK dominates price sensitive sector (cheap Y fares) at most of Europe-Asia/Australia market. At the luxury end, SQ and CX both are in trouble, so SQ is offering some amazing J fare from Europe to Australia (I've booked that already), it's cheaper for me fly from LHR to SYD via SIN, than just do LHR-SIN, on their bread new A380s. That is crazy price.
I can't think of a reason why I want to stop over in Doha, and may face uncertainty situation there. None of my staff are stop over in Doha, I do not want anyone stuck in Doha.
I hope that explains why QR only taking 4 A35K. To be honest with you, I am amazed that they are still taking new frames. They really have nowhere to put them. Their year end financial sheet won't be pretty for sure.

What happened is that, as soon as Airbus and QR solved their difference on the A320neo issue, they rescheduled widebody deliveries to match QR's changing needs. Nothing unusual there.
