All EK routine maintenance is done in DXB. A trip to AUH is definitely outside the norm. The expected timescale is now more like 3 weeks than 1.

I don't understand. EASA says the doors don't have to be replaced immediately, then why not waiting until the next major maintenance overhaul?

I don't understand. EASA says the doors don't have to be replaced immediately, then why not waiting until the next major maintenance overhaul? This might be a scheduled maintenance check in the first place, taken advantage of for a door check/fix. Just a guess ...

As per the wing safety issue, it seems that engineers believe they 'know' more than the safety authorities, manufacturers and designers.
Either the A380 is safe to fly with the door issue, or it is not.
I can't see any advantage to the safety authorities if there is loss of an aircraft attributable to the door issue.
Like a crash helmet - how far do you need to go before an accident happens, 1 meter, 10 meters, 100km (my wife got hit by a truck reversing out of the drive just down the road!) So one can only assume it is a 'comfort' issue, not a 'safety' issue Humblest, ignorant, opinion.

That's how Airbus describes it.

Are these doors completely new or just slightly modified? The huge A380 doors are a true technological marvel, eletrically driven an such.

Emirates EDZ still in Abu Dhabi. That's 16 days now, so a one week fix is too optimistic?

I suppose the three weeks also include a major maintenance check.

A380 Emirates EDZ did a testflight this Sunday afternoon from/to Abu Dhabi as EK3771, should be ready soon. She took off like a rocket and in no time was at FL350, did two circuits off coast before decending and coming back to the airport over land at 4.07 pm local. The flight took 1 hour 6 minutes.
