Macheras' latest tweet is surprising in that he claims Airbus would use some A321neo variant to create or develop a hub, while that aircraft is often seen as allowing airlines to bypass hubs !

Not that surprising, at least for me. Icelandair runs a hub in KEF and the fleet mainstay is the 757, with a few 767 in the last years. It always depends on what kind of traffic you expect.
