It landed on the southern runway so only a distant view for me. Most traffic is using the northern runway up till 3pm this week but to create extra landing space the controllers sometimes land A380's on the take off runway instead. An EK flight 15 minutes earlier was also on the southern runway. ET

I have just read 2 news articles (sorry in French) stating about the same thing: ununderstanding as to why Qatar Airways did not make out of its first A380 revenue flight to LHR a big PR thing on Friday: www.air-journal.fr/2014-10-13-qatar-airways-lairbus-a380-a-londres-en-catimini-5117563.htmlairinfo.org/2014/10/13/qatar-airways-vol-inaugural-airbus-a380-londres-heathrow/One of them even mentions the terms "bad mood" for Qatar Airways low profile on Friday at LHR "Signe de mauvaise humeur, Qatar Airways a adopté un profil bas pour le lancement de son nouveau « navire amiral » : le directeur exécutif de la compagnie, Akbar Al Baker, n’était pas présent pour le vol inaugural. La compagnie n’a pas livré de photos officielles, ni réellement communiqué sur l’événement, contrairement à ses habitudes."This could translate to: "Sign of bad mood, Qatar Airways made it low profile for the launch of its new admiral ship: company executive director, M. AL Baker was not on board the first commercial flight. The airline did not realease official pictures, neither they did communicate on the even contrary to what they are used to" The article mentions as possible reasons not only the 3 months delay but also that Qatar Airways would be "pissed off" by the focus being now on its rival Etihad Airlines and it luxuary first class that would be even better........!!!!!! interesting........... It is true that Qatar Airways only started communicating today via twitter or press releases www.qatarairways.com/qa/en/press-release.page?pr_id=pressrelease_inaugural-a380-flight-131014&CID=SMALL0678502232000000001105

I wonder if Emirates/Qantas, Qatar and Etihad will be able to fill all the A380 they plan to send to London in 2015 ... Is there really such a strong demand or will they start a price war on this route to fill them?
