We will know - Airbus will make some show out of 9000th - be sure of it - just a few days more. The customer proper must be selected.

Anyone want to start to bet? I'm glad I didn't take the bet. A more-than-two-year-old aircraft.... Never, ever would I have placed a bet on this one

This is surprising - I would too guess it is going to be A321 but I would guess it is going to be some BIG customer....like AA, AirAsia, EasyJet... something like that. OK Vietjet has now 59 planes on order, so not a small one for sure.
Anyway we can be happy the show was there - just rather a small one.

There are a few pictures of it with the sticker in today's thread at Aviation Friends Hamburg Forum, thanks to Airbus-Aktuell

Well, a big congratulations to Airbus on the delivery of their 9,000th Aircraft! This is surprising - I would too guess it is going to be A321 but I would guess it is going to be some BIG customer....like AA, AirAsia, EasyJet.. I know but, it shouldn't be for Airbus to decide which customer gets the milestone deliveries. It all depends on their customers' delivery schedules and it's up to them to time it accordingly. However (I suppose, like you) I'm hoping that the 10,000th aircraft will be truly special in aircraft type as well as the customer.

Overall the A321 is now the most successful type they do have in the portfolio. It outclassed it's competitor completely. The 320 line is the "bread and butter" - all the rest is "just above". Sad to say it but it is the truth. That is where most of the money is. Maybe the A350 will come there - but it is too early to say - few years is needed.
The A321 is top of the A32x line.
