philidor I think this thread you link to is for global discussions, as this one here and those 2 too a380.boards.net/post/49509/thread and a380.boards.net/post/49226/thread are for specific discussions...
Thanks guys for mentioning my flightdiary!
As for my experiences with airlines, I've had many preferences, likes and dislikes among the few different ones I've flown with (including LCC and ULCC, but I think I haven't never been on any charter?...yet...),
I've had many discussions on this with people here and there too,
I think now that preferences on that subject can depend on so many factors, on same segments for example airlines could be good one day and less good just the following day...
Among my adventures I think I could see that some of those factors could influence our likes or dislikes:
-type of airline (LCC, full service, ghost-full service,...)
-type of airplane flown (or supposed to flown on??....)
-our level of expectation compared to the price paid
-weather at point A AND weather at point B
-global personal life situations
-traveller's moods on that day
-state of the traveller (first flight of the day? 3rd or 4th flight for the day? level of tiredness? hunger?...)
-state of the crews (experienced crews acting fast fast? less experienced stopping all service at the first light plane-move? crew not bothering at all to serve pax and staying sitting down for the entire flight?....)
-without wanting to be discriminatory, ....who crews are? (young and energetic versus rather aged and slower?....)
-how did check-in go?
-how did security go?
-regions of the world travelling to/from
-which airports travelled from/through/to (easy to make the way through? friendly staff? only 60min for scan-longqueueatscan/longcorridors/queueatbathroom/queueatimmigration/runeverywherenottimetoseatdownnotimetobuyasandwich)
-how did immigration go? (kept 3hrs and asked 1000 stupid questions?? or just smooth and within 1min already out of the airport?)
-purpose of the travel (going to boring meetings? travelling to meet partner?)
I think then all of this mixed would make a good flight or a bad flight experience, thence linking it to how we perceive an airline.... Perhaps, there would be even more factors that the ones I found here...
On my personal line,
for long times my ever favorite was Singapore Airlines, and I wasn't liking Cathay and Thai very much... but that was probably because my experience inside Thailand wasn't that much good neither, and probably all carriers were hidden by the beauty of SIA and their A380s... I've flown Thai a few times since on same and different segments and I've found them pretty good...
For now then among the few ones I've had experiences with, I couldn't say in fact which I prefer or not... Especially I live now in a country where we can pay 300 dol for a 30min flight without even having a sandwich coming with it Compared to that I'd prefer LC-Scoot where the price was 65dol for 2hrs in the air but still buying my drink onboard....
So, with these prices set the way they are here, I think my mind's been pretty much so much widely opened, I'm now happy to fly on any plane/any airlines, maybe passing over all the factors I've mentioned there.....
(on my last trip I'm still wondering how I could cross the Atlantic on a WS737, no room at all and very uncomfortable seat.... but still happy of my trip, where I could fly for cheaper 'West-Canada-to-Europe' than 'West-Canada-to-East-Canada'... )
For example too, what I mention 60min at the airport was my experience with Icelandair, I found them pretty good on check-in, boarding, during the flight, breathtaking views from the window etc, but just because of these tight schedules at KEF I will never book with them anymore.... too bad!
