Your MEC even said so itself. That could just be politics at play: management using the A320neo as an excuse to outsource cheap flying labor.

Slightly off-topic, but the A319's (N535NK, N536NK) haven't flown yet since being delivered in Dec and Jan, correct? They are old second hand frames ! I know, i was just curious if they have been used yet or not, since they are there for "just in case" i suppose.

A tip. If you put an @ just before the users I'd they will get a notification! It's much easier to use the "Insert User Link - button" stealthmanbob . That way I only had to type "st" to get your username.

I have no idea as to the true reason for the outsourcing of flying to Miami Air. The last weekend was challenging finding crews (pilots AND flight attendants) and it appears it will be again this weekend (the crew staffing boards are all red) so while I am sure that having NEO aircraft going out of service didn't help matters, I think that the airline would have resorted to outsourcing anyways to resolve the crew staffing issues whether the NEOs were flying or not.
But I don't think that the airline would have envisioned multiple NEOs going out of service simultaneously.
As far as 535/536 we were told to expect them to go into service late April. I think the two airframes needed a cabin install and paint. We (from a pilots point of view) are eagerly looking forward to getting footwarmers and the option of being able to land these Airbuses at a runway and cabin altitude of 14000ft without having to drop the oxygen masks in the cabin.
There is going to a special celebration for the 100th aircraft going into,service in late April as well. (Too bad they're not going to do a special 100th Airbus livery like When JetBlue got their 100th Airbus)
