N903nk is now out of service in Denver with the same issue that has affected 901 (November) and 902 (December)
Awaiting ferry permit to DFW which will most likely be an engine change.
At least the problem appears to be consistent. Maybe it will be time for 901 to come back up for its second engine change.

I hope these engines don't get changed permanently, that they just need a shop visit. I cannot see any manufacturer replacing engines on a routine basis !

On schedule, N904nk reported a magnetic chip detection on #1 engine on Feb 7 in Baltimore.
The replacement engine was already in place for the eventuality and the aircraft ferried to DFW where the engine was replaced and the aircraft placed back in service within 24 hours.
So far, every magnetic chip detection event has occurred on the #3 bearing for all 4 engines. There has been no consistency between engines as it has occurred with either the #1 engine or the #2 engine but not both engines on the same airplane.
N905NK comes up on its predicted time frame within the next two weeks. So we shall see. Hopefully it will not happen as 901NK has passed the time from when its replacement engine was installed without reoccurrence of a magnetic chip event, so maybe it will not reoccur on 902NK as well.

Do you know nkpilot if they are all real chip detection events or sensor failures or a combination of both ?

Hello all, I wrote this article for Airways Magazine about the ongoing A320neo engine issues. Several new developments I found include aircraft now being restricted to 30,000 feet, the source of the problem, and what Spirit is doing in the short term to counter this problem. More information can be found in the article including a picture of three A320neos in storage at DFW. STORY: airwaysmag.com/airlines/report-spirit-a320neo-engine-troubles/

The outsourcing of flying to Miami Air has nothing to do with the issues with the PW NEO engines causing the NEO aircraft to be grounded.
I have never heard the issue with the engines being the bleed air valves being frozen shut. Operating at FL300 is for the #3 bearing issue that is recurring on the PW engines, but not the bleed air valves.
Only two of the aircraft are in temporary storage. Yes there was point during the weekend during which 4 of 5 NEOs were out of service. 904 was placed back into service Sunday night after receiving an engine from 901 which is in temporary storage. Spirit has taken delivery of two additional A319s to cover the flying that was to be done by NEO aircraft that are out of service.

Slightly off-topic, but the A319's (N535NK, N536NK) haven't flown yet since being delivered in Dec and Jan, correct?

The outsourced flying has everything to do with the NEO aircraft being grounded. Your MEC even said so itself.
