From the same article as above, Spirit expect three more deliveries this year.
"The two A320neos are Spirit's 90th and 91st aircraft, and the three others on tap will bring the airline's all-Airbus fleet to 95 planes at the end of 2016."

Fuel savings 15.3% to be precise: 15.3% is quite a specific number, but is it practical given the circumstances. This was just a delivery flight, and is not your typical revenue service flight profile.

I almost forgot about this. I knew it came into my backyard recently, but the weather here in DTW hasn't been all that great lately. Overcast with lots of on-and-off rain. DTW-LAX is almost 5 hours. It was already torture enough as is with 30" seat pitch on a 739. I can't even imagine that with 28" to work with! 28inches is not a lot of room. On the old seats on the nonretrofitted 319s and older 320s/321s, 28 inches is torture. however with the Slimline seats installed on the new delivery 320s/321s (and in process of being retrofitted onto the 319s) the slimline seats have eliminated all of the moving parts from a conventional reclining seat. So within the same 28 inch seat pitch, you end up with more space between your knees and the seat back in front of you. The seats don't recline (they are "pre-reclined") so you won't have any anyone reclining their seat back into your lap. there is no seat back pocket and no tray table. Instead it's just a set of bungee cords holding the safety card, and the tray "table" is just a tiny tablet shelf. Sitting in the old seats, my knees are jammed into the seat in front of me, but sitting in the new seats, I find I have about 2 inches of space between my knee caps and the bungee cords of the seat pocket with the same 28 inch seat pitch. the center aisle is also wide enough to roll a roller board suitcase with a flight case attached down the aisle without having disassemble the flight case off the j-hook. (Flight case is standard 8"x18"x14"). - something I can't do on a RJ or on an American or United mainline aircraft cabin. And the overhead bins are never full. There's always room for a rollerboard in the overhead bins walking aboard as the last passenger - #178/182 to board the aircraft. However the narrow seat pitch does make it hard to reach across the row of seats from the center aisle to close the window shades.

If it's not too personal a query, may I ask what your back-knee distance is (cm preferred)? We can then all reach for the tape measure and judge how we might fit in to the slim-line system.

This was just a delivery flight, and is not your typical revenue service flight profile. Though it's a fair comparison against the A320ceo delivery flights. But you are right; the fuel savings should grow with the payload. That's probably why LH recorded a 17% block fuel burn reduction.

DTW airport is "only" 4 and a half hours away from me. I'm tempted to do a day trip just to see the A320neo in real life (beside off course where one of the NEO test aircrafts flew right over my head last spring on its way to Wisconsin)
