Wasn't this Peach Aviation deal overblown in Airbus' communication ? I am not convinced an existing A320 operator buying 13 more frames is a truly 'significant' order.

Airbus never claimed it to be significant, that was speculation from Reuters.

I guess we can forget the Iran Air deal. Nothing new here, in the short term this is pure political gesticulation - even if the Senate was to follow suit, which is uncertain, the bill would be vetoed by Obama. Airbus can still proceed with sales covered by already delivered US export licenses. In the longer term, we'll see whether or not foreign policy matches campaign rhetoric, and whether or not the US Senate passes without serious alteration whatever new legislation might be pushed by the White House ...

Airbus never claimed it to be significant, that was speculation from Reuters. If we believe Reuters, it did . From the link posted by jkkw on the previous page : "Europe's Airbus Group (AIR.PA) said it will announce a 'significant order' from a Japanese airline on Friday at a press conference hosted by its CEO Fabrice Bregier". To me, the wording does not sound like speculation.

How odd, why would Airbus say something like that? They usually never pre-announce an order, no?

How odd, why would Airbus say something like that? They usually never pre-announce an order, no? They do pre-announce press events staged by their customers, attended by an Airbus representative. This is what they did in this case, though the emphasis is usually reserved for major orders. I suppose in this case Bregier is courting ANA, hoping for larger deals.
