A6-EUF and A6-EUG are I believe, in the LR configuration. I see on FR24 that these 2 aircraft are operating EK448 and EK412. Both of these flights, especially EK448 DXB - AKL, would to me require the cabin crew rest area. What is going on?? Do Emirates have insufficient A380's in ULR configuration. Check what a380fanclub wrote in Emirates A380s thread I see there is some discussion in the Emirates EUG thread if she is a LR or ULR. I was a bit confused myself, seeing EUF go on the trip to Auckland this morning and EUG to Sydney/Auckland. On Twitter I was advised by someone who seems to work with Emirates that the crew rest area on the ULR no longer is on the main deck, but in the cargo hold. This allows for the same number of seats (519) as on the LR version. I haven't found a cabin plan yet that confirms that the toilet blocks at the front of the main deck have been moved, but they must have. Otherwise there would still be 11 windows in stead of 12. If I checked correctly EON has been the last ULR in the classic configuration. Then we had a bunch of 2-class and 3-class LR deliveries. I think EUE, EUF and EUG must be the first with the cargo crew rest area, seeing how they have been used for very long flights. Correct?

As the northern winter scheduling season has started, in addition to what damemans posted (welcome btw! ), EK has (re)commenced operating the following routes with the A380 in the past 24 hours -EK448 DXB-AKL (as mentioned by geswho) operated by A6-EUF -EK418 DXB-BKK-SYD-AKL (although only BKK-SYD is a new A380 route) operated by A6-EOD -EK412 DXB-SYD-CHC (only SYD-CHC is a new A380 route) operated by A6-EUG EK 412 to Christchurch is the first regular A380 service into Christchurch which should also be the most southern destination the A380 operates to. Here's a video of the aircraft in CHC not too long ago

Has Emirates gone nuts? It is only a 379 km 50 minutes flight from Dubai to Doha, no traffic delays included. That's totally not economical for an aircraft as the A380. Unless they have so many passengers on the route that justifies an upsize from the 777, I guess Emirates has taken on Qatar Airways, which recently increased the number of flights between the two Middle East hubs. I think EK sees a twofold advantage to this flight upgrade : - EK must be using frames sitting idle in Dubai, thus improving intensity of capital use. - EK probably hopes to entice some premium passengers to use its network by connecting in Dubai, especially first class passengers who cannot find that class of service on most QR flights. Let's remember that EK already did the same to serve Kuwait.

Fabien, shouldn't you copy your above post to the 'airports A380 ready' thread ?

I was hesitating when first seeing that it'd be ready soon, but then seeing that UAE already applied to fly there I thought, both combined, better maybe suited here.... I can make a copy though indeed you are right
