I'm lost concerning the route to LAX, was it double daily in the past with one of them A380 and the second daily cancelled later on?..

It was double daily B777. They cancelled one when they announce the introduction of A380

I believe EK was short of frames at that time. I do not believe this to be the case. It is one of their longest i.e. lucrative route. They would solve it. They have routes into secondary destination operated by A332/B772 now operated by 77W - they could postpone sending one of those out.... I believe it was not enough passengers. They have so many planes that as Fabien says they need this frame for this is not valid in their case. They do have flexibility in few frames. We can see they can send 5xA388 to Bangkok while over the winter there is heavy seasonal leisure traffic and they do have the plane ready..... They do have 124 x 77W so.....

Don't forget the plane sent to Bangkok is different version. Also the B777 has to have the crew rest area, so you can't use the ones without rest area. One other point B773 has to have few seats blocked because of the range.

One other point B773 has to have few seats blocked because of the range. Of course... and what are doing those frames that were alternating on the DXB-LAX route ? There is not so many such a loooong routes As a matter of fact - if you look what planes go to Bangkok - and check the planespotters to see the seating - all versions (sometimes even the ULR one) go there.... i.e. ......
