The Lion Air engine choice is no surprise in my opinion. With a fleet of both 737s and A320s, selecting CFM brings some engine commonality to their narrowbody operation.

7 A320s out of 250 really do not matter much. I would say Airbus is using Lion Air, which probably is in no hurry, to adjust orders to actual production flow.

If Lion Air cancels the MAX in favor of the Neo AND the USAF cancels the KC-46 for the MRTT they can have champagne with the popcorn
