The 'conversation' following the linked article is truly depressing ... Yes, most of it should have been deleted ! Completely agree - however the plane itself is very interesting. It is 52 years old !!!! and they want to use it commercially and have already some goods to move. The plane is bigger than the A400.... (can carry more, of course is MUCH noisier, much thirstier.....), has the Russian specialty - two counter-moving propellers.... Interestingly quite a lot of pcs are still active.

What a pre-CAD beauty.
BTW: What happened to those engines? Are there updated versions available for the Bear bomber? That might be a base for some good long range prop airliner with pretty low fuel burn? No idea how long these engines run between overhauls these days? Soviet engines were famous for short lives. But the size and cruise speed certainly do look interesting.
