Fact is we don't know how many deliveries 'six less than planned' translates into. No. ABs wishes to deliver X minus ( No. EK wanted delivered in 2017 Z) minus 6 = Q X - ( Z - 6 ) = Q ! hopefully some one can create a better equation

Can that really be true about 2019 and 2020 ? Will Airbus be able to halt and then restart production ?

We do know that Airbus announced a rate reduction. We also know that some frames are going into storage.
Can we imagine a situation in which Airbus would build A380s at a slow rate in 2019 and 2020, storing them for delivery in 2021 and 2022 ?

We sure can, but it would be extremely costly process and the benefits on the end would have to compensate.....

a380.boards.net/post/96894/thread www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-07-27/airbus-profit-drops-27-as-superjumbo-production-rate-cut-againNarrow-body output delayed as Pratt engine tweak falls short Airbus SE said it will almost halve production of its slow-selling A380 superjumbo, casting further doubt over the program’s future, The A380 build rate will be reduced to eight jets a year in 2019, down from 15 this year and 28 in 2016, Airbus said Wednesday. While the company aims to eke out the backlog in anticipation of revived demand as airports get busier, it said the handful of ongoing contract negotiations may not produce sales. “Even if we should get another order before the end of the year that will not change the needle on our rate decision, except if we would get an unexpectedly high order, Chief Executive Officer Tom Enders told reporters. So 15 are still confirmed for this year.... With the delivery of MSN241 today that makes already 7 delivered, EK 4 MSN221 MSN228 MSN229 MSN241 QR 1 MSN197 EY 2 MSN233 MSN237 2 for SQ should be expected making it 9, making then another 6 for Emirates..... MSN242 (already rolled out), maybe MSN238 (storage at xfw and already outfitted), probably MSN244 (in OF at xfw), and then probably any of the EK frames that are already at TLS or at XFW, in storage..... MSN248 MSN249 MSN232 MSN234 (at TLS) MSN167 MSN162 (at TLS) MSN239 MSN240 (at XFW)

With four Emirates aircraft in storage for delivery 2018 I am not sure if 15 deliveries are realistic. I listened back the Airbus conference call today and didn't hear Enders or Wilhelm mention the 2017 target. Also, Enders and the press release mention eight 'deliveries' in 2019: Wilhelm hinted at 'production', but will Airbus build more than eight aircraft in 2019 but deliver only eight?
