I still find it a bit odd that Air France are retiring their A380s but have not ordered 10 - 12 A350-1000s 🤔 You are right, they are presently downsizing, but that approach meets its own limits. I wouldn't be surprised if they take A35Ks in the future, but the decision would have implications for the choice of a successor to the 77W. AF may wish to delay it.

they could probably go fairly easily to some city around and make people happy - like Baltimore, Phila, Boston etc..... - aloso slots but not such a problem..... That works for spade and bucket destinations, not for business travel ! Why ? They still do have the same amount of rotations they had before + plus a new not far destination. There is of course business going on in those places too and all services like hotels, rent a car etc. so it might bring for some travelers one less plane change or less driving or ground transport travelling.

Because business travellers have a marked preference for time saving over price. The consequence is that if you serve another airport, you cannot expect to attract the same business travellers. Of course, you may hope to partly offset the loss by winning over new customers from other markets, but there are not as many of them as among JFK users. There is a reason why JFK has slots while other airports don't !

Somehow I found this really hard to believe, especially for next year's delivery. There will be a lot of request from airlines and leasing companies to push their delivery dates later, not even talking about airlines may got bankrupt. So both Airbus (A320/A330/A350 line) and Boeing (only B787 line) will have a lot of shifting to do regarding manufacturing sequence, not to produce them according to pre-assigned MSN. Surely at this stage, if an airline telling Airbus they want all their A350s to be delivered exactly on the dates on the contract, it would be music in their ears, especially Airbus already announced that they want to avoid the production of while tails, to keep cash flow strong. While they have 15-18 months to sort out the manufacturing sequence, Airbus themselves request to delay next year's delivery to the year after (not knowing how many frames can be delivered to other customers)? Hard to believe, mate, really hard to believe.
