"Airbus is giving us their best belief in the delivery of this aircraft; it’s tied to the release of an improved component in the Pratt GTF engine. So I think their level of confidence is reasonably high".

Apparently, the small design change P&W had to introduce early last year is still holding engine deliveries to the FAL.
EDIT : I tried to check, HA seems to have ordered the PW1135G-JM, often dubbed the 'hot and high' version. This is about a new version, apparently not about initial GTF issues.

An improved component? Would that be the new combustor liner?

HA is taking a new 'hot and high' version which may not be fully certified yet (I actually don't know). As HA pointed to the need for a new component as the reason for the delay, I don't think P&W's slower-than-planned ramp-up is the culprit in this case. Whether this new component is the new liner mentioned by P&W, I don't know ... It might be.

Configuration is as follows

Hawaiian expects to take delivery of 18 new A321neo aircraft between the fourth quarter of 2017 and 2020. Considered the most fuel-efficient aircraft of its type, the plane will seat 189 passengers with 16 First Class, 45 Extra Comfort and 128 Economy class seats.
