Aircraft Zero has started ground- based test flights on February 5. "Our A350 XWB is virtually flying! Aircraft Zero has started ground- based test flights. The full scale skeleton of the aircraft including electric, hydraulic systems and flight controls (the Iron Bird, below) is connected with the A350 XWB's flight deck simulator and is carrying out virtual flights to test various first flight scenarios."

Found some more pictures of the simulator. An expensive videogame room. Did Boeing not have an iron bird test rig for the 787? Edit: Never mind. It's confirmed in the article further down. I also found this very interesting. That must make it the world's biggest aircraft. What with the landing gear in Filton, wings in Bremen and cockpit controls in Toulouse.

I like your thinking! Great for flights within Europe, no fuel burn or CO2 - long walk to get to your seat though! )
