Keep the tube, then add the Genx engines and New carbon wings might be a good idea 💡 That sounds so familiar! can't even understand the logic behind it as A330neo is effectively getting the same engines .... I meant it was a smaller B777x !

I'm not convinced. The 767 had flopped as the updated 767-400 back then. To neo it adds cost but give not the full performance gains. A bit like the A330neo's problem...
Boeing should move forward and maybe built another 787-3 with some better custom designed new wing if they don't have the money for their NMA anymore. We'd need west coast to Hawaii or US coast to coast range only.

A 767-X would signal the end of the NMA idea. I don't believe in a passenger version, but a freighter makes sense, since there is a 767 freight market. As we know that the NMA isn't freight-oriented, it's still too early in my opinion to announce the end of the NMA project, though I would not bet on it.

but why you want to upgrade 767 for F instead of building 787F Many customers like the 767 because their operation is based on it. For instance, in some airports, the 787 has too much span to fit in 767 gates. The 787 is also more expensive, and its higher efficiency doesn't matter so much for freighter duty.

I consider the entire 767neo story some pr maneuver to distract people from today‘s MAX investigation report.

Especially when you are having problem to fill your production gaps
