I'll take this announcement with a grain of salt, as should be the case in my opinion whenever a start-up existing on paper only suddenly orders a bunch of widebodies.

I'll take this announcement with a grain of salt, as should be the case in my opinion whenever a start-up existing on paper only suddenly orders a bunch of widebodies. It is a startup yes, so of course the business plan can be expected to be a little more 'fluid'. But keep in mind that the person at the helm is a high level executive and pilot coming from a well-established carrier in the same geographic region. He would be well aware of the kind of numbers (eg. costs) that are needed to make it work. So I'd give him a better chance at succeeding than just any other startup.

I am aware of that, but communication may be vital to a start-up, which may still be raising funds. In such a context, a LoI/MoU may be seen as free advertising ...

Using other prople's money to leverage one's own is a key to business success. He must be gathering investors !
