With air accidents all possibilities have to be taken into consideration but I agree that for two new frames of the same new type with a known software issue in certain flight settings then this would be high on the initial exclusion list.

Saw this news late sunday evening. Unfortunate for all involved. At the end of this investigation. Nobody will come out unscathed. Really unfortunate

In looking this morning for an update I've found a new, interesting website (for me) that has apparent FAA updates and interesting chronological updates. Certainly this update news is on national news today. FAA Declares Boeing 737 MAX 8 'Safe To Fly' Despite 2nd Crash In 5 Months
It says that they will issue (have issued now I believe) a Continued Airworthiness Notification to the International Community (CANIC).
There is criticism of the FAA by a UK member of The House of Lords referring to the FAA's issuing of the same soon after the Lion Air crash. On the other hand an ex-pilot politician is saying the new systems 'mess around with nature' - well without such software the F35 and others wouldn't be able to fly at all - and SpaceX?! Also criticism again of the 60-90' i-pad update conversion from older 737s to 737 MAX.
It will be insightful of different reactions to this FAA action when subsequent findings are revealed but surely the FAA must reassure other international airworthiness bodies of its probity at all times.

Ethiopian Airlines crash: FAA says Boeing 737 Max 8 is airworthy
Highly erratic flight details; must have been a very difficult experience for all those on board. RIP
