Given the exceptional accomplishments by Boeing, both military and civil, in the past (with the 787 batteries, KC-46 faulty integrated fuel system, 737MAX MCAS, KC-46 FOD, 787 quality control, 777X cargo door) I'm going to be optimistic and say June 30, 2023

This could well be the RTS for the 777-9?

Looks like the new engines are pretty complex and have some teething troubles. Pretty hard to predict how long that will take. It's best to not rush things to EIS but get everything up and running smooth before first deliveries.

Looks like the new engines are pretty complex and have some teething troubles. That's a nice understatement for an engine that is still far from being ready for airline service. At best, GE will soon deliver engines for Boeing's test frames.

So initial flight test would start in the winter? In Seattle with low clouds and rain? Would they plan like this? I'd opt for any spring first flight. Or move to Edwards or Palmdale if fall is needed.
