I don't think that EK would buy one A380 from MH because they have different engine manufacturer. Moreover, Christoph Müller said that MH wouldn't sell the A380s till the A350s arrive. 4 are needed for the LHR service, another 1 for the pilgrim services and the last one as a spare aircraft. If the aircraft arrived for a retrofit, it may get the premium eco seats.... Nevertheless, this affirmation is interesting. sean , do you have the link? Edit: FR24.com says that MNF is in KUL

The article says "The carrier previously used 747s on its London route, but parked its last ones in 2012."
According to planespotter, 9M has two 744 in storage.
9M-MPN, LN1247, first flight 17 May 2000, wfu 12 Jan 2013, 15.8 years old 9M-MPP, LM1296, first flight 4 Feb 2002, std at SZB 17 March 2015, only 14.1 years old
9M-MPP should be able to return to service pretty quick, after a year's storage at the same airport.

From the above quoted article : "In its latest strategy update, Malaysia airlines says its A380 fleet is due for scheduled maintenance starting around April 1, and this will require one A380 at a time to be out of service through this year."
MH recently canceled plans to sell two of its six A380s. Now, its A380 fleet seems to be used so intensively that one aircraft at a time in scheduled maintenance is a serious problem ! Are they turning around their operation already, or are they inconsistent ? I hope the former is true, but I would not bet.

Very sad indeed. When I was at Heathrow last October the gate at the Malaysia was quite full, but not the almost 500 pax that can fill an A380. The route must be loss making for a long time. I wonder how long MAS will continue to operate the A380.

I wonder how long MAS will continue to operate the A380. As long as : 1 - they didn't receive replacement aircraft (A359, in 2018) ; 2 - they cannot find some airline willing to buy their A380s, or to take them on lease.
