I'm now pretty convinced that the A350 will fly first. It's not only in paint but MSN001 already did a lot of the required ground tests before being painted. The only things left for MSN001 are the engine runs and taxi tests.

I agree, but pictures recently posted by Bombardier tend to show that they have more prototypes (5) at an advanced stage of assembly. So far, Airbus only has two of them, with MSN 2 upcoming, so who is actually ahead of the race ??

That's also hard to say. The assembly process is very different, A350 sections arrive fully equipped in the FAL whereby final assembly goes (much) faster.
