These changes seem to be minor and are not the kind being done to cover up any shortfalls in performance - they seem to be well ahead of it. What I get out of it is that the program's well on track that Airbus has enough unused resources left in it to explore more ways to modernise the aircraft according to market requirements. Fabrice Bregier's team have started a lovely trend where they're rolling out improvements in small steps rather than lumping everything together and rolling them out at once, risking delays, bottlenecks and cost overruns. They're also aiming to roll out electric systems little by little, in contrast to the 787's overambitious attempt. It's also nice to see customers getting a good updated product even if they don't want the neo, and keeps the ceo attractive.

I agree with Baroque. Airbus obviously wanted to bring the NEO to market as quick as possible, but they intend to improve it continually. I expect many upgrades to come in 2019, at the same time as the improved version of the P&W engine.

I believe the 189 seats was specifically requested by some airlines. EasyJet comes to mind and their order was sort of conditional on this.

I think it says that this configuration is for the A320neo.. Fabien It should become available for the A320ceo as well. Are you positive ? It would require expensive re-certification tests. I am not sure the CEO life expectancy warrants that effort ...

Think you for the link, jkkw. I was believing the new high-density cabin setup would be a NEO feature, I was not aware that it could be certified on the CEO first, then encompassed in NEO certification without additional costs ...
So, Airbus is doing exactly what they did for the sharklets. This is valuable information, it certainly makes it more easy to operate a mixed fleet.
