To me, this milestone is a double-edged event : it reminds users that the 737, however improved, is an old design ... Maybe that is why Boeing seems to keep a sober tone. Nothing like the 787 celebrations ...

Boeings 737 was built since 1968, after 46 years 8000 planes were delivered. By comparison Airbus 320 delivered 6000 planes after 26 years of its first flight. I think its a milestone to produce so many aircrafts of the same series by Boeing, but its also a milestone for Airbus to produce so many aircrafts 20 years after the start of the 737 program.

Commercial aviation has grown very big indeed ! That's what sales numbers show. Thirty years ago, the market was mainly American and European. Now, Asia and the Middle-East make the news ...

No doubt that the A320 will reach the milestone faster. But it's Boeing's day today with this milestone.

AA has painted a 737-800 with the oneworld decals. I don't think they could have made the titles any larger. link

It seems as if every second order for the MAX is from unidentified customers. Tell us who they are Boeing!!!!!!

It seems as if every second order for the MAX is from unidentified customers. Tell us who they are Boeing!!!!!! I don't think it is up to Boeing to release those airlines. If the airline does not want to be named (yet) then they (Boeing) will not tell. It's a bit like those 10 A380's going to Hong Kong...... Or will it be China...... Or......
